Hi Rohina
The .chm file opens automatically on your desktop because Windows recognises
the file type from its extension and opens it with the associated program.
If you put the .chm file on the Web server (which is what I think you are
planning), Windows users will be able launch the HTML Help viewer to view
the Help. Even if they choose to open the file from its current location,
the file gets copied to a temporary location on the user's desktop before
the user can view it. Users on other operating systems however might not be
able to view the Help.
If you want your Help to open in a web page, you might want to use WebHelp
instead of Compiled HTML Help (.chm).
