I scored in the top 94% of the logic section, and something similar in the
verbal. My math score was very humbling at the bottom 2% - less than random
chance, which is odd, considering that I answered the math part by making
pretty pictures on the score card. True. Of course that reflected the fact
that I am mathphobic and took as few math classes as possible. That meant I
could not do that math so pretty pictures seemed as reasonable strategy as
any other.

I don't recall the actual numbers but that was where I stood in percentages.
I actually LOVED the GREs. The logic part was so fun. I wanted to play that
game all day.

| I've been curious for several months now (ever since I took the test
| actually) about how other tech writers have scored on the different areas
of
| the GRE -- and whether you took it before or after you worked as a tw. My
| highest score was on the logic section (a frustrating 790), followed by
the
| math section with the verbal coming in last.
|
| I think that my profession actually worked against me on the verbal
portion
| of the test because it focused on vocabulary and your command of big
words.
| Most of the words on the test are words that I would probably never use in
a
| technical document.
|
| As for the logic portion, I had recently finished a 2 1/2 year stint
writing
| mostly troubleshooting procedures for the military so I had been using my
| problem solving skills constantly during that time.
