Dear All,
Thank you for your responses regarding my frustration with employment
agencies. There were a lot of good suggestions. One of the solutions I've
employed is to email the agency concerned, giving them the reasons why I'd
be good for the job listing skills and experience and then phoning them an
hour or so later to see what the hell is going on.
Flattery also helps. I do actually have good relationships with a couple of
agencies, but for some reason these are the ones without any TA jobs. Is
this a coincidence I wonder?
Nearly all of them have said how things are slowing up and that employers
are getting cold feet/holding off on recruiting, which begs the question
'why do they keep putting jobs up on the net etc'?
They also say the contracting market is 'very flat' at the moment, certainly
in regard to the UK.
