I want to be a technical writer. Never thought I would say that, but I'm
completely focused on starting my career.
I live in Columbus, Ohio. I have a computer science degree from Xavier
University (1996). I became very ill when finishing up school, and spent
the last five years essentially bedridden. I have completely recovered and
I'm a picture of health, but I have nothing to show for the last five years
professionally, except for the realization of what field I want to pursue.
I'm looking at software documentation jobs, and wondering what skills I
should concentrate on improving. I'm very good with MS Word, and very
technically proficient.
Should I consider an online tech writing degree or course? If so, any
recommendations? Online-Learning.com and OnlineLearning.net seem like two
possibilities. Should I take a course on FrameMaker or RoboHelp? If so,
any recommendations...either online courses or books I should purchase?
Thanks in advance for any help!
