Were I in your shoes, I'd have him pick the font(s) he wants to use.
When he picks some ornate, serif font, give the template to the users,
and see what they think. Taping the resultant swearing might be a nice
touch ....
Perhaps you can ask your PHB -- er, client -- to show you something
he's seen or has access to written in the Warm and Fuzzy(tm) fashion
....
Another thought: perhaps some (illustrated) drop caps, like in some of
the kid's books from the Days of Yore ... but that's only a thought.
