You might want to check with your legal beagles. In some instances, a
statement in a user manual promising future features can be construed as an
implied contract to do so. If a customer makes a buying decision based on
such promises, all else being equal, (a stupid decision on their part,
perhaps, but it happens), the vendor could be sued and possibly held liable
for providing that function or compensating the customer.

I remember hearing about this happening a long time ago, and we were
instructed never to promise anything! Anyway, a little CYA action seems
appropriate here. If the lawyers say it's OK, you might want to be sure to
get that in writing. Companies often go to great lengths to *avoid*
litigation, but if the corporate entity gets sued, *you* might be, too.
