For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
1. Set your monitor for something higher than 256 colors (I use True Color
-24-bit)
2. Capture the window (PSP defaults to 16 million colors).
3. Resize the image (Image>Resize) by a certain percentage (typically the
image is about 65%-80% of the original, depending on the size of the
window).
4. Reduce the number of colors to 256. (I usually use a standard Windows 256
color palette for all BMPs to avoid color flashing problems. To load a
palette, select Colors>Load Palette)
