TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Validating procedures can be (and often is) part of the job of a technical
editor. It's part of the job description for tech editors at Microsoft
Press, and (I believe) in Microsoft, at least in the Knowledge Base area
where a friend of mine works.
I always consider validation to be part of the editorial process,
especially if QA doesn't do it (and sometimes even if QA does do it,
because we often find different problems). Unfortunately, many clients
won't pay for that level of editing, so it doesn't get done.
