I suggest that you visit www.amwa.org (American Medical Writers
Association).
Go to USP's http://www.usip.edu/graduate/biomedical_writing.htm to get a
description of what a Biomedical Writer is and review a list of courses
students should take. The list of courses tells a great deal about what the
writer will be doing.
This medical writing firm's Web site, http://www.bioclinical.com/, offers a
list of services, which should give you an idea of the medical writer's job.
>From what I have seen, some medical writers work with medical software,
medical products, medical journals, etc.. Some companies actually seem to
prefer someone with a science background (M.S., M.D., Ph.D.) for the job.
Hope that helps,
Angie F.
