I would not send the complete documentation to a user of the standard edition.

Single-Sourcing would be the best solution for you.
If you intend to produce only PDF files and you use FrameMaker, you are saved. You only have to set Conditions specific to each variant, and launch the production with different cobdition settings. For the Online Help production, you could then use WebWorks Publisher. We use here a tool that we developed, called "t3 SmartDoc", which is based opn WebWorks Publisher, except that the writer does not have to bother programming WebWorks Publisher.

If you use Word, try Doc-To-Help, even if you do not have to produce Online help: you can set conditions in Doc-To-Help.
