TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
The perspective is mine BTW. I've been using Word since 1987 (Word 2.for
DOS) and didn't move to FrameMaker until 1998. While there are quite a few
things about Word that I prefer over FrameMaker, I consider FrameMaker the
tool of choice for documenttion. It's faster than Word, much more stable,
and with the appropriate add-ons (WebWorks or MIF2Go) produces better HTML
and PDF output. You may also want to see "The Joy of Single Sourcing" on the
Articles page of my site.
