I don't think one needs to be a socialist, or even altruistic, to share your
"quaint notion." I believe it's in _my best interest_ to improve my
profession (although I don't have much time to put that belief into
practice <g>). Just as it's in _my best interest_ to live in a community in
which people interact with courtesy and good will -- hold doors, allow
others to merge into traffic, stop to help a stranded motorist, etc. The
best way to promote that kind of behavior is by modeling it.
