Something else I've noticed along these lines. People doing the
reading/hiring don't give a rat's *** what you want. They don't want
to know that you want a fulfilling job, that you want to take
advantage of "X", or that you are looking to get "Y" out of the
experience.
I concur with this. I think that the most common example of this is the self-serving "Objective" statement. Everybody knows that you want a "fulfilling job with a growing company," so I recommend leaving the "Objective" statement out. Instead, write a "Summary of Qualifications" that provides an overview of what you uniquely offer to the company.
