Speaking as someone who works at a large bureaucratic organization,
I would caution folks to not assume that a particular HR droid is
representative
of the actual organization.
In this case, there was an obvious mismatch (tech writer interviewing for admin
job). But unless you have tons o' offers, I would at least try and talk with
the hiring manager before writing off a place! Otherwise you may miss out on
an opportunity at a company whose staff is just as frustrated with HR as
you are. Seriously!
