Like it or not, some employers will base job offers on your current/most
recent salary (I've been told that the defense industry has an unwritten 10%
rule). Many of these companies are unwilling to budge very far from the
same pay range. If you sell yourself short this time, be prepared to have
future potential employers devalue your worth.

Subject: RE: Newbie/tight market question
If it's only a one month contract and you don't have potential
employers beating your door down, what do you have to lose? If
you go to work for 7-11, you'll be able to put down on your resume
that you have experience as a convenience store clerk. Wouldn't
you rather have some WRITING experience?
