If you've been backed into revealing your salary, use the "other factors"
argument, but as Plato said in another post, you've got to be willing to
walk away from the table. It's not excuse making, it's full disclosure.
When if you reveal your low salary, you've got to make it clear right away
what range you're looking for. You don't want them to focus on you because
you're a cheap hire, you want to be evaluated on the same level as any other
applicant.
And remember: if you take the job with a lowball salary, they will *never*
respect you. You will always be the one they hired because you were cheap,
not because you were good. That's a huge hole to dig yourself out of.
(Can you dig yourself out of a hole???)
