Alright, forgive me, I saw 4:45 am tick by last night, and I got less than
2 hours of sleep. The situation I was remembering in my sleepy mind was
not a technical manual, but a technical text book--nuclear physics. After
working a problem several times, and not getting the correct answer, I
talked to my teacher about it. He did the problem two or three times and
concluded there was a mistake in the text book. A few days later, we found
*another* error, in a formula in the text. After that, when I did my
homework and couldn't get the right answer, I didn't know if it was because
my calculus was faulty, or if the book was in error *yet again*.

Maybe my issue, however, is not so much *typos* as it is technical
correctness. In the same book, I would have chuckled had I found "the
colors and flaovrs of quarks are listed in the table." But when it came to
formulas and answers-to-odd-numbered-exercises.... I needed the information
to be correct.
