Acrobat 5.0 Creating Large PDF File Sizes

I upgraded from Acrobat 4.05 to Acrobat 5.0 this week, and I've noticed that
my new PDFs have larger file sizes than the ones I created using Acrobat
4.05. For example, I have a Word document that is 72 K. If I use the
PDFMaker button from Word and use Distiller 5.0's default settings for a
screen-optimized file, the resulting PDF is 472 K. When I created a PDF from
the same Word file with Acrobat 4.05, the PDF was 64 K. The file does not
contain any graphics; it only has text. As far as I can tell, I am using the
same settings that I was using with Acrobat 4.05. I am using Word 97 on a
Windows 2000 system? Does anyone have any idea why the file size may have
increased so much? Is there a particular setting I should look at? 
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. I'm subscribed to the
