TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Please forgive if this question has already been answered on this list; I did glance at the archives....
Foolish, foolish me! I have gone and been volunteered to webmaster for yet another do-gooder non-profit. This particular group creates their monthly newsletter in MS Publisher and (apparently) agonizes over the placement of every dot. They wish to post their newsletters verbatim (well, not merely verbatim -- pixelatim???) on-line.
Apparently, when they try to save-as some other format, such as Word or RTF, MS-Publisher warns them that formatting and graphics will be lost. So, they refuse to export to Word and email the Word doc to me so I can pdf it.
Before I make them buy Acrobat or beg Adobe to donate it to them, I'd like to ascertain that:
==> If they install Acrobat, they will be able to Save-as .pdf from MS-Publisher and lose nothing of their formatting
Please no "Well, it's theoretically possible." Please reply only if you've-been-there-done-that-paid-for-the-t-shirt.
But if you have really, truly done this, please do let me know.
(And, if you've got a contact at Adobe whom you think might be willing to free up a copy at a real low price, please let me know too. It's a good group to be friendly with.)
