Of course it can!

Any Windows user knows:

It drags it's feet (Loading... ... ... ...)
It complains (Insufficient memory to complete operation...)
It shifts the blame (DreamWeaver cause an invalid page fault at ....)
It makes excuses (Unable to process request. Required file is in use...)
It crashes (BSOD)

Should your documents use anthropomorphisms?

Avoid them when possible, but don't agonize over it)

:)
