TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I have been on elance for about 18 months. In that time I have seen all work
go to people who charge $10 to $20 an hour. Since you can only get my intern
for those rates with no quality or usability work on the docs, we have not
gotten any business out of it.
Unless you are willing to sell your time for that amount, it does not pay
off to purchase a membership. if you are looking at it as something to do to
fill otherwise empty hours... Then it may be worth it.

Subject: Question about eLance
|
| Has anybody signed up for and used eLance to land freelance work and if
so,
| what were your experiences with it (good, bad or indifferent)? I'm
tempted
| to sign up, but I want to know if it's worth the time and fees to do so.
|
| Thanks muchly,
|
