Jessica - I believe Lynda Weinman discusses Verdana and Georgia in her book
"Creative HTML Design." You could probably also find support on her website
-- www.lynda.com .

I've been researching fonts, specifically Verdana (sans serif) and Georgia
(serif). The rumor is that these two fonts provide superior readability
online. Does anyone 1) have any (or know where I can find) supporting
documentation on this, and 2) know if this superiority translates into a PDF
file? That is, a PDF file that is used as a substitute for online help.

Because I will be on vacation the rest of the week, I would like to thank in
advance anyone who chooses to respond. This font-thing is my research
project to eventually (we all know how that goes!) make a case for some
changes to the current style guide.
