Is the document in question a spec for developers, or an end-user guide?
For a spec you'd want that level of detail, but for end users I'd say pare
it down to essentials.
For end users, I would probably write something more like "When you click
Locate, [Application name] highlights your selected feature in the map
window" and put a chunk of a sample screen shot next to it. (A screen
capture wouldn't show the animation, so you might want to tweak it in an
image editor to simulate it.) Let the graphics do the talking in this case.
