Re: A Question of Ethics (was: Overriding Acrobat User Settings)
People, Techwriting is about research and accuracy. We should all be expert
fact-checkers at the very least.
I had taken discussion of this topic off-line, but, after this snide remark, I have to insist that I'm not being inaccurate. Although a number of stories allege that Sklyarov had distributed copies of the software:
a.) This fact is disputed. In some accounts, his company has insisted that it doesn't give away or sell the software in question.
b.) There are conflicting reports of why he was arrested. Some say that Sklyarov was targeted by Adobe before he actually appeared in the United States, simply because he was the first member of the company available.
c.) Even if the allegation appears on his charge sheet, that doesn't make it so.
Kindly be sure of your own facts before taking me to task about mine.

But don't know how to read."
