Hi All,
I've been looking through the archives but I can't find what I'm looking
for.
Months ago master documents in Word were discussed in length and the pros
and cons of using them.
I seem to remember that the following were mentioned:
* using RD to create TOCs
* using Insert > File to create a master doc instead of using the "Master
Document" feature
Here's what I'm trying to do.
A User Guide is being created which consists of a number of different
chapters all stored in individual Word files. The User Guide is released as
one big PDF, including a TOC and an Index. What I want to be able to do is:
* add new chapters and create an updated PDF
* update existing chapters and create a PDF with correct page numbering, up
to date TOC and index.
The problems that I encounter are:
* page numbering gets messed up. I've tried to solve this using the Insert >
Page Numbers option and ensuring that for each chapter they're set at
continue from previous section
* all chapters start on an odd page - this gets messed up even though in
Page Setup I continually set up each chapter to say start each section on an
odd page
* having to create a new master document every time I add a new chapter
because the new chapter at the end of the chapters but before the Appendix.
I'm trying to solve my problems by creating macros, but I was wondering in
there was a better way of doing this.
I would appreciate any help / suggestions that improve what I'm doing.
