It would probably help if you explained your reason for considering a Mac.
Are you unhappy with PC's? Is there something that you feel a Mac could do
better for you than a PC? If all you are doing is text, there probably
isn't.
Unless you have a good reason to specifically need a Mac I don't see a need
to change. Overall, you'll find PC equipment cheaper with a better
selection (and PC-native applications often come out up to a year before the
Mac ports do), but some people are really into Macs and feel the extra $ is
worth the difference. If you've already got a PC you will end up with stuff
that is no longer compatible with your new system.
