I ain't a copyright lawyer or an astronaut.....however I wonder if the
caution could be that in some cases technical writers work as a company
supplying another company with the documentation that goes with the product.
In this case I am guessing that you might be exposed to a suit by the
company to whom you supplied the documentation to recover their costs.
However, as Bruce states, I suspect if you are an employee of a company it
would be the company, and not the individual who would be open to any action
taken under law.
