Part of Fineman's problem is his wife, who thinks that cable access is
faster than DSL and that a software firewall isn't "good enough". Of course
it's good enough! Heck, a hardware firewall isn't "good enough", because it
doesn't stop rogue programs from "phoning home". Zone Alarm, a software
firewall, stops both incoming and outgoing hack attacks.
BTW, which company makes routers with green metal cases? I just bought an
SMC router...if he'd bought one he'd have had zero troubles. (Unless he
doesn't have the wits required to operate a web browser.) And it included a
cable, too. ;-D
