I'm reminded of the old man who is having dinner with the beautiful young
woman. At one point in their dinner conversation he asks, "Would you go
to bed with me for a million dollars?"
"Yes," she replies enthusiastically.
"Interesting," the old man says. "Would you go to bed with me for twenty
bucks?"
In shock and indignation the young woman replies, "Most certainly not!
What do you think I am, a prostitute?"
"We've established that," the old man replies with a smile. "Now we're
dickering over price."

If you have any experience in the workaday world, you have doubtless
felt at least once that you had compromised your ideals to get or keep a
job or contract.
If you have not, do not feel too smug. Your opportunity will come. There
is more gray in the world than you know.
