Note: You can learn more
about fighting techniques
by scanning the archives for ADMIN messages,
then looking at the messages immediately preceeding
the ADMIN message. This will give you insight
into the techniques that raise to the level of
the listowner's attention--more subtle or
nuanced techniques may not be so readily identifiable.</HC

1. Snipe.
2. Misquote.
3. Overgeneralize.</HC and ONLINE>

The advantages of _effective_ single sourcing are that
you repurpose content (using the same words in
two or more places) ensure consistency and
eliminate duplication of effort. There's really no sense in
having one writer write the "To fight in conventional
ways" section two different times, one for hard copy and
another for online. There's even less point in having
multiple writers each prepare that section for their
respective information products.
Yes, it can sometimes be a time suck. But it can also be really
effective and useful, and result in good online and hardcopy
docs. Tools to support this are sadly lacking, though--
Frame and conditional text works, but it's far from
ideal.
