Subject:RE: merging separate help systems in InterHelp? From:Jim Shaeffer <jims -at- spsi -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Thu, 6 Sep 2001 17:17:19 -0400
If the idea is to create a single database in ForeHTML and use
conditional Topics and Text to output different versions of the
help, I do it all the time. (Items marked with conditions are
included in a build If And Only If you explicitly select those
conditions.)
However, in an InterHelp project you will have to be _very_
careful to segregate the two resulting sets of HTML pages. Watch
your build directory settings, etc. closely. These settings must
be controlled manually. That is, there is no logic that says "If
I build with Condition X on, put the results in directory X."
On the other hand, if the idea is to produce HTML that dynamically
detects what type of user has signed in and reacts appropriately,
look to your programmers and Webmasters.
On the third hand (g), if you are indeed merging existing ForeHelp
projects, look carefully at the Import function in ForeHelp/HTML.
(Project > Import). It's not prominent in the documentation but
it's pretty slick.
Hope this Helps,
