How to become a "Contractor" not a "Sub-Contractor"
Subject:How to become a "Contractor" not a "Sub-Contractor" From:Dave Weisbord <dweisbor -at- lsil -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Fri, 07 Sep 2001 08:43:38 -0700
The latest discussion on the pros and cons of contracting has introduced me to
several new terms describing what I think I do.
In my part of the country, I am called a contractor. I work for an agency and am
in a fairly long term contract within the semiconductor industry. Several of the
largest companies here locally only work with "contractors" from an agency.
So my question is: How does one go to genuine contractor status (eliminating the
middle man)? How do you get you clients? In other words, how do you get to keep
all the $$?
