While it is difficult to be critical after the horrendous events that have
unfolded, Americans should all perhaps take a step back and wonder what it is
that attracts the ire of many in the world. Try to tone down the rhetoric of
'America the great', 'Greatest country in the world', 'Defender of democracy'
and all the other hyperbole that seems to declare that the U.S. stands alone
against tyranny.
We should be uniting as a planet and not isolating ourselves into the same tired
and inflammatory national identities and tribal symbolism that have caused so
much trouble in the world.
I suggest that everyone forward the e-mail from Cassandra to everyone in the
World but reworded as below.

International Candle Lighting
Friday Night at 7:00 p.m. step out your door, stop your car, or step out of
your establishment and light a candle. We will show those that support
terrorism and violence that the World
is united against them.
Please pass this to everyone on your e-mail list.
The message: WE STAND UNITED - WE WILL NOT TOLERATE TERRORISM.
