Sheesh. What idiot sent that to poor Ellen? Musta a been a private post
because I never saw it. Don't they say in crises that people revert to
their true natures?
I've never understood this tendency to judge people by their emotional
responses. Some of us descend to histrionics, other of us clam up. Many of
us take comfort in the platitudes, others feel uncomfortable with them.
Lots of people go to work because that's something they can control at this
moment.
[In fact my work was directly affected, albeit in an odd way, by the crash
at the Pentagon. I'm working on an insanely short deadline for delivery to
ONI (office of naval intelligence) on Monday. There was a strong
possibility that the project would be deferred, a decision that was supposed
to be made on Tuesday. Because of the crash that decision was never made,
and so I am still feverishly trying to meet that original deadline.]
Personally, I'm not unhappy that I have something so fully occupying me.
