TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Not a bad idea, and one that has been kicked around a little.
The downside is that the OOBE (Out Of Box Experience) would be lower and
customer satisfaction would also be lower.
Also, our product appeals to some entry-level programmers who need reference
material and probably expect it for what they pay (product ranges from $700
to $5K) -- especially at the higher end of the scale.
Finally, our current users who upgrade might not be too happy with nothing
but an X-ref after getting used to receiving some excellent docs in previous
editions :)
