Yes! I tell people I'm a compulsive proofreader.
When my grandmother died, I helped my mother go through Gram's stuff. We found a bundle of letters tied with a blue ribbon: every letter that my Gram had ever written to me when I was a kid---dozens of them---which I had carefully edited and sent back to her.
