TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I'm creating a help system for a financial
application. If users call help from a
screen, a topic will be displayed that
explains how to complete the task on that
screen.
I would like to provide a visual or written
cue in the topic that identifies where the
screen-specific procedure fits into the
larger workflow.
where the user's position in the workflow is
highlighted.
Can anyone suggest alternatives? I don't have
the resources for icons or graphics, so I'd
prefer a textual solution. Also, I am developing
WebHelp and am limited to the functionality
that can be achieved with HTML and JavaScript
(authored in RoboHTML v9.2).
Thanks,
Rowena
