Yeh. Most universities in the States give their courses three-digit
numbers; the first digit is the year in school one is likely to encounter
it; freshmen take mainly 1xx courses, seniors 4xx, grad students 5xx and
above. At least that's how it works at every university I'm familiar with.
The introductory courses in a given subject are generally numbered 101.
So "Style 101" means "Style Basics".
