I don't know how long you have been a member of this list, but yes, there
has been instances where people have been inconsiderate when it was
unnecessary.
I, myself, notice a difference between a typical New Yorker, and being
down-right rude.

An innocuous question to the list ended with this imperative:
> (Please respond to me or list with polite and considerate
> e-mails only, thank you.)
Man, are we really that rough a crowd? It sounds to me like the poster
was expecting to get flamed, when the only potentially flame-provoking
element of that otherwise innocuous post was the "don't flame me"
pre-emptive strike.
There's usually a certain level of candor and bluntness on this list,
which I appreciate; but I haven't seen much rudeness. (But then, I'm
from New York. I prefer that people not mince words.) Have people been
flaming each other off-list or something?
(Happy, non-profane responses only, thank you. No swearing, now.)
