Re: Word misbehaving
I am using Word 97 on a windows NT 4 platform. I have a 700 page document with chapters separated by section breaks. I originally put in Next page section breaks. I notices my numbering was off and discovered that instead of Next Page section breaks, there were Continuous Section Breaks. I tried to put the Next Page section breaks back in, but really strange things occur. First, if I delete the Continuous section break, my header gets screwed up. All of a sudden it takes on the Heading 1 style and pulls in the title of the next chapter. When I do an undo, everthing goes back to normal. If I try first inserting a Next Page section break and then try to delete the Continuous section break right under it, it deletes the Next Page section break instead. Even though it is not highlighte for deletion. It maintains the Continuous section break.
I am feeling exasperated. I already had to recreate this document because I inherited it from someone else and it was huge! Not to mention corrupt. I asked for advice on the techwhrl site and heeded it. I was very diligent about creating a clean template and starting anew. Everything has been going well until now. I cringe at the thought of having to recreate this 700+ page document. I truly hope someone has a suggestion that works. It's not even noon and I'm ready for a shot and a beer!
