Before posting this rather lengthy message, a disclaimer: I checked the
archives and have individually contacted the four Techwr-l participants who
posted messages in 2000 about Clickbook, so you know who you are and need
not reply to this.
I returned to Techwr-l after a long absence. My new career is book
publishing. In order to do this, I wish to use ClickBook, which I believe
is one of the best applications available for producing booklets.
I am creating documents in Word 97 and am seeking to duplex print them
("double-truck" is the technical printing term for printing each sheet with
two pages front and back, for a total of four pages per sheet) on a Kyocera
FS-9000. I was using StarOffice 5.2, which appears to be causing file
corruption. This has prevented me from printing books using StarOffice.
(It is important to note that StarOffice is not compatible with ClickBook at
all.)
Fortunately, I have a license for ClickBook 5.0 for Windows 98, and I can
bring it up to print with it. However, every time I try to print with it, I
receive messages:
(1) Page margins are outside the "printable" area.
(2) The layout of the pages is incompatible with the format I wish to use
(the format is two pages, cut).
I talked with a technician from Blue Squirrel, who was very helpful, but who
said I would have to talk to someone who knows about Word. The problem, the
technician believed, had to do with how Word was set up. Well, I looked,
but I did not see anything in the printer setup options that addressed the
issues I am seeing, so I was wondering if you would have any suggestions.
A big thank you to everyone on the list who reads this and thanks for any
assistance you can provide!
