Yes. I can't think of one offhand, but there are examples of this, as you
say.
The only reason I can think of for using this form for PCs is if the writer
wants to use a single form for the plural throughout the document.
Unfortunately, that requires that some of the forms are incorrect, but it
does provide consistency for the reader.
