Re: Tech writing list nothing more than a way to get e-mail addresses to spammers?
Hmmm- after being on the list for about three weeks, my previously clean
inbox is now being unindated with spamming. Oh well, so much for mailing
lists of any kind.
I have unsubscribed although the damage has probably already been done.
I've been on this list for 7 years, and I don't believe Eric and Deb would reveal the names of list members to anyone for commercial purposes. If you mean that you're getting nearly 100 messages per day from members of the list who are either posting question or posting in response to questions. That's not spam; that's what a list is about. If it's not relevant to your specific needs, then you should find more specialized lists.
You might consider whether you've revealed your email address through other means--for example, online purchases or requests for information from commercial sources. Our if you're posting through a news group rather than an email list. By all means, unsubscribe if you don't want large volumes of email, but don't pan the list for being busy. You can always set it to digest mode and get a single message a day.
