re: I wouldn't take tech-writing or marketing jobs in the following areas:
... weapons.
Well, I've written maintenance manuals for nuclear weapons
(http://www.sandia.gov/history.htm). They included lots of WARNINGS and
CAUTIONS, which made me feel pretty useful, and I don't believe we've
injured anyone since 1945. (There won't be any new jobs for writing testing
instructions except for computer simulations.) I might draw the line at
poison gas or the like, but that is already prohibited by various laws,
etc., so little problem. Land mines are a problem, too, but again I'm not
aware of much USA use of same--rather the manuals to be written might be for
explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) which would be a nice thing to do, I'd
think. I've attended the Navy's EOD (VIP) training, so I'm sure it would be
exciting. Opportunites for travel, as well, I imagine.
