This reminds me of the early 1970s, when I was pregnant and forced to take
maternity leave because the factory work was too hard on a pregnant woman.
During that same period of time, I heard about a bank which decreed that a
teller could not work once she became so pregnant that when she stood on a
line drawn near the wall, her belly touched the wall. She went to court,
and the judge ruled that all employees must be treated equally (given the
same test). As a result, one teller and one corpulent vice-president were
put on medical leave.
