"This isn't big enough for a doghouse entry, but it is funny enough to
mention. Norton SystemWorks 2002 includes a file erasure program called
Wipe Info. In the manual (page 160), we learn that "Wipe Info uses
hexadecimal values to wipe files. This provides more security than wiping
with decimal values." Who writes this stuff?"
People really do notice. (For those who don't get it,
this is roughly equivalent to stating that filling a glass
with tap water is safer (= "more secure") than filling
it with slightly contaminated H2O.)
