Yes, that's one way... If you can find an electronics store that
sells something called a "bulk tape eraser" you're in business.
This is basically an extremely powerful oscillating electromagnet
that switches polarity 60x per second - some of them are so
powerful that once you pass them near magnetic media, the magnets
on the media are no longer useful - they take a "set" to whatever
polarity the eraser stopped at.

How do I know? Well, lets just say that in high school, I was a
rather mischievous sort... and you know, I'm not sure that
teacher ever did forgive me...
