There are several free applications available from a search that run a
'server / client' approach to remote desktopping. I have used many, and they
all work adequately for the "left the files / tools at home / work". Its not
a big issue. Let alone there are plenty of basic technologies like ftp
servlets and the like that are capable of doing the job if the OS isn't
modern enough.

All I do is email myself the home IP when I change IP / jobs.
