Complex documents. The get especially more complex when you start using conditional text, variables, and cross-references.

There is no significant difference, except 6.0 adds some nice book level features.

I would recommend, as John Posada did, getting the Adobe FrameMaker Classroom in a Book. It covers the basics of the application. Granted you won't be developing rock solid templates when you're finished, but you'll be able to do many of the things you'll need (and an employer would expect you to be able) to do to produce documents.

I would also recommend the Framers (www.frameusers.com) and Adobe user-to-user (www.adobe.com) mailing lists.
