Hi everyone

This might seem inconsequential to some of you.
But I have come across a problem....the word "baseline".

I understand that the word "baseline" cannot be used as a verb;

you can say ... "set a baseline" for a project
but not ... "baseline" a project.

I am looking into a document which talks about this...setting
baselines for projects as part of the planning process. Whereever
possible I try to replace the verb 'baselining' with 'setting
baselines'. I also have come across the usage of 'baseline' as an
adjective....as in 'baselined versions'

Do you have better suggestions? (I am sure you do)

Here are sample sentences:
"When a project is baselined, both the schedule and the cost are
baselined."
"The user can save many baselined versions"

Should it be something like:
"In setting baselines for a project, separate baselines should be set
for schedule and the cost."

Thanks in advance
Anila
